UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN TEACHING HOSPITAL (UITH) GETS NEW TOP MANAGEMENT STAFF. 

 

THE CHIEF MEDICAL DIRECTOR 

 

THE former Chief Medical Advisory Committee (C-MAC) of  the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Professor Mikhail Olayinka Buhari is now the Acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital. Buhari 's appointment followed the recent completion of the tenure of  office of the former CMD, Professor Abdulwaheed Olajide Olatinwo. 

Prof. Olatinwo had recently completed his two terms of four years each as the CMD.

Buhari's appointment by the Federal Ministry of Health was announced by the Chairman of the Management Board of the UITH, Olorogun O'tega Emerhor, during the maiden meeting of the board in Ilorin. 

Until his recent appointment, the Acting CMD had on February 24 2017 been re elected as the C-MAC  of the hospital for another term of two years in office. 

Professor Buhari, the Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state born astute administrator had his elementary education at St. Michael's School, Omupo. He proceeded to Omupo Grammar School for his secondary education. He completed these two cadres of academic pursuit between 1974 and 1985. 

The Acting CMD studied Medicine at the prestigious University of Ilorin and promptly had his Residency Training in Pathology at the UITH in 1996. 

The UITH Czar obtained the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians in Laboratory Medicine in the year 2002.  He became a lecturer with the University of Ilorin and a Consultant Pathologist with the UITH. 

He rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Pathology in the year 2012. 

Professor Buhari was Head of Department at both the University and the UITH. Besides, he had held numerous administrative positions especially  at the umbrella body of the nation's  Medical Profession, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). 

He is happily married to Dr. (Mrs) O. I. N

Buhari. The union is blessed with children. The Acting CMD is a lover of sports with preferences for Squash and Cycling. 

THE CHAIRMAN MEDICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (C-MAC). 

 

 

PROFESSOR Emmanuel O. Sanya (MBCLB, Bth, MSC, PhD, FWACP, FACP), has emerged the new Acting C-MAC of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH). Professor Sanya, until his new appointment was the Deputy C-MAC (Clinical) of the hospital. He had served in that capacity since the year 2014. He succeeded Professor Mikhail Olayinka Buhari who had been appointed the Acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital. 

The Don had since the year 2002 become a Consultant Neurologist/Physician and had served the UITH in various capacities.  He had since 2009 been serving as the Chairman, Therapeutic Care Committee of the hospital. 

Professor Sanya is widely travelled and has presented papers in many countries of the world. He emerged the Head of Department (HOD) of Medicine in the year 2016. The new Acting C-MAC is happily married with children.

DEPUTY C-MAC (CLINICAL, EDUCATION AND TRAINING)

 

 

Dr (Mrs) Aishat Oluwatoyin Saka has become the Deputy C-MAC (Clinical, Education and Training) of the UITH. Under the new designation, Dr Saka became the first Deputy C-MAC combining such offices. She was until her new appointment the Deputy C-MAC Education and Training.

About us

The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) belongs to the second generation of Teaching Hospitals which were established by law on the 2nd May 1980. It took off in July1980 and started operation using as its temporary site, the then General Hospital and Maternity Hospital Ilorin which were owned by the Kwara State Government. The permanent site of the hospital was declared opened by His Excellency, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in May 2007 while complete movement took place in April 2010.
