IT was another glorious outing for the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Professor A.D. Yussuf when he led the top members of the management team of the hospital on a courtesy visit to the highly revered Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari. The CMD said he was poised to move the hospital to its next level of performances during his tenure of office as the leader of the Management and staff of the institution a centre of teaching, learning and healing. Yussuf, a Professor of Behavioural Science said, 'we are ready to move the UITH forward from where we met it and make it a centre of excellence and a place of pride for all.' In the convoy of the CMD were; the Acting Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr Aishat Saka, Director of Administration (DA) Mr David Odaibo, Acting Deputy CMAC (Training and Education), Dr A. Adeniran, Head of Department (HOD), Personnel and Training, Mr S.A.Lawal, HOD Works Engineer Baba Ita, HOD Auditing, Mr D.O.N. Odebola, and acting HOD Accounting, Mrs Adebayo. Others were; representative of the Acting Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) Mrs Ayeni. and HOD Pharmacy, Pharmacist Afolabi. The CMD while reiterating on the importance of 'Royal Blessings' before major assignment, canvassed same from Gambari who is also the Permanent Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Council. The UITH Bulletin recalls that the outing was the first official one by the new CMD since his recent appointment. In his response, the Emir described Medical Profession as vital to humanity recalling the aphorism of seeing the medical practitioners as 'next to God' urging the management and staff of the hospital therefore to allow their positive inputs under the new CMD to resonate round the world. For Gambari, medical practitioners like members of other professional bodies are versatile individuals who had dutifully under gone series of training before being saddled with the responsibility of discharging their duties to humanity. He therefore prayed for the management of the UITH under the leadership of the new CMD for glorious moments at the saddle as the new helms men of the hospital.
